Because He saw ME…

This past weekend Christians everywhere celebrated the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. As Reverend Bowles Taitt eloquently put it this weekend, only Christians can in fact celebrate a death. The death of Jesus Christ brought us salvation and his resurrection brought us life eternal. Where would we have been if it were not for the saving blood of Jesus Christ?

[But] he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed. – Isaiah 53:5

The choir sang one of my new favorites “Worthy Is the Lamb”. The lyrics of the song expressed everything I was feeling that beautiful Sunday morning. My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ CHOSE to stay on that cross because he saw me. He saw my future. He saw my salvation. He saw this wretched sinner. How can I ever repay him for his sacrifice? What shall I do to thank him?

I will live right, share the gospel and sing Worthy is the Lamb seated on the throne. We crown him now with many crowns. He reigns Victorious. No matter how low we may feel at times or how sinful people may make us out to be, God saw us worthy enough to send his ONLY son to die and Jesus saw us worthy enough to stay on the cross. He could have easily come down from the cross and say I ain’t dying for these ungrateful rug rats! Lord, knows that would have been me. I would have went through the crowd and give everyone one great big lash. But, Jesus looked into their faces and saw their future generations. He saw you, He saw ME!

How awesome is our God! As you go throughout the week, remember that the Easter message is not a weekend celebration, it is a divine revelation. Everytime you wake up in the morning, remember that it was Jesus’ willingness to stay on the cross that allows you to take another breath. The Bible clearly says:

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. – Romans 6:23

We should have all been six-feet under a long time ago. We sin in words, thoughts and deeds. BUT GOD, in his infinite grace and mercy looked past our faults and saw our needs. The lyrics to “Worthy is the Lamb” has been included below. Read through the lyrics and then watch the video that I have posted of it being sung. Praise God for his faithfulness and proclaim that Jesus is the WORTHY LAMB!
