Something NEW
For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland – Isaiah 43:19
This was my text of meditation this morning as I gathered my things to head out to work. As I meditate on the text, the word NEW stands out. Here God tells the people that he is about to do something new. He then points out that he has already begun. hmmmm. As I read through this, I reflect on the children of God and how we have managed to squeeze God into a box. huh, what ya talking about Rach? Don’t worry, I am going somewhere.
God loves to do NEW things. He is not a God who likes to follow the conventional method. He is the God who will have you travel from road A to F then tell you to turn around and travel road Z to G. I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in dry wasteland. As out of order as that may seem, if you follow God’s instructions you will find that it all worked out. Like in the olden days, God is always seeking to do a NEW thing. Unfortunately, the children of God are not always ready and willing to let God manifest his greatness. It is as though the people of God have taken on the belief that God can no longer do any great thing.
The Bible declares:
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday today, and forever. – Hebrew 13:8
God doesn’t change. He is still a miracle working, soul saving and grace granting God. However, we need to remove the barriers we’ve placed on him and let him move. Many of our churches are experiencing periods of drought because we have placed limitations on God. Some of our lives are stagnant because we have managed to place a glass ceiling over God. God can’t bring about the change in your life or your ministry if you won’t allow him to move as he desires. No one can tell you how God is going to move in your life, but one thing is certain – He’s gonna move. All he ask is that we let him be God.

Today, as you go about your day whether it be at work leading a project or at church planning next week’s service, let God move in his own way. Let him do a NEW thing and see the grandeur of our God.
One way of recognizing when God is moving, is to count your blessings daily. We have partnered with “A Holy Experience” to teach others how to be thankful for what they have. Multitude Mondays, allows different members of the blogger community to share their gratitude list with their readers. We are one of those bloggers. I invite you to buy a notebook and commit to writing 7 things per day that you are grateful for. You will be amazed how much God is moving in your life.
Remember as God told Elijah, you are looking for me in the Earthquakes and fires from heaven, but I am in the peaceful breeze that passes you by.(Read 1 Kings 19:11-13) Don’t expect God to only move or appear in great big ways. Sometimes, he is in the extra bagel that was left just for you this morning.
My Gratitude List:
* For the NEW thing he is doing in me
* For allowing me to see a brand new day
* For keeping the ones I love and me safe from harm
* For always putting food on my table
* For the gift of ministry
* For an entourage of faith
* For keeping me healthy
Your turn, what are you grateful for?
Memory Text:
And the one sitting on the throne said, “Look, I am making everything new!” And then he said to me, “Write this down, for what I tell you is trustworthy and true. – Revelations 21:5
Prayer Prompt:
Lord, thank you for reminding me that you are ready to do a new thing. Teach me how to free you from my human limitations and let you move the way that you desire to. Help me to trust your decisions knowing that they will all workout for my good.

God always provides what we need not in our timeframe but when He knows its the right time. These daily devotions could not have come at a better time in my life. God is trying to do something new. However, because we are trained to do what we know, we resist anything that is different. God does love us and does what is best for our well being. If we just trust and believe maybe we can finally learn to let go and let God do His thing.
