The Gift of Grace
A few weeks ago, I attended a church service where a young man opened up his message of the day with I am tired of hearing about grace, I am tired of preachers talking about grace. Needless to say, my spirit was greatly bothered by such a BOLD and ERRONEOUS statement. How can one declare that they are tired of hearing about grace and claim to speak in the name of the Lord?
Hebrews 10:28,29 declares:
Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God under foot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace?
In the olden days under the first covenant, those who rejected the law of Moses only needed two or three witnesses to their rebellion to be condemned to death. This verse states that a greater punishment awaits those who treat as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant (Jesus Christ) and the Spirit of Grace.
Grace is a gift to Christians of our day and is something that all ears must hear and come to know. The Bible says, See to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many. – Hebrews 12:15. God instructs us to make sure that we share his grace with everyone. We must never forget that had it not been for grace, we who are non-Jews would not have been granted access to the blessings of Abraham. It is Grace that allows you and I to be counted among the heirs of the Kingdom. It is Grace that allows you and I to be able to come boldly before the throne of God. It is grace that makes us the Brothers and sisters of Jesus Christ and Co-Heirs to the Kingdom. We should never be tired of hearing about grace because without it, you and I would be hopelessly lost.

I sincerely pray that this young man intended to say that he is tired of hearing preachers sugarcoating and watering down the message. This would have been a little easier to swallow, but GRACE? I can never get tired of hearing about Grace because without it, I would be totally unworthy of working in the ministry and uttering the name of Jesus. Today, as you go about your day, remember that it is grace that is keeping you here. It is grace that allows you to breathe. It is grace that has brought your salvation. Thank the Lord for His Grace and remember, you are to share it with others for we have been commissioned to do so by the one who has shown us GRACE.
A special note to ministry leaders:
Be very careful who we allow to grace our pulpits and speak to the people of God. We are held liable for the souls that God places under our care and the consequences of leading them astray are great. Jeremeiah 23:1 declares: Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith the LORD.
Memory Text:
Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings. It is good for our hearts to be strengthened by grace, not by ceremonial foods, which are of no value to those who eat them. – Hebrews 13:9
Prayer Prompt:
Lord, thank you for your GRACE. Help me to share it with everyone I meet and grant me the gift of discernment that I may not be led astray by teachings that are not based on your Word.
