Wait

April, Tuesday 20th, 2010. Filed under: Christian Character Christian Life Testimonies

Last night was a little rough for me. My eyes were filling up with tears as I reflected on the goals I once had and how many of them seem to have never happened. They didn’t happen not because I failed at getting them done, but because things just never seem to have lined up to allow them to happen. I began looking at some of my colleagues and co-workers who are accomplishing the goals that I so badly desire and for a split second I felt like a total loser.

As I shared this with my hubby, he asked me the following – Have you ever considered that maybe God is trying to do something NEW with you? . OH YES, my hubby used yesterday’s devotion against me. Nevertheless, he was right. Though God was working in other areas of my life, I couldn’t help but to compare my life to those who outwardly appear to have what I want. What is it about humans that has us constantly comparing ourselves to others?

I wish I had her hair, I wish we had a house, I wish we had that car, I wish my husband would do that. We always seem to want something more than what God deems we need right now and when we don’t get it as quickly as we’d expect, the enemy starts to fill our heads with his garbage. something’s got to be wrong with you, everyone else got it.

Though our desires seem to have been delayed @ the airport, God still intends to bless us and he will. I will be the first to tell you that the waiting game is ANNOYING! However, God never fails his children. There is always a reason for his delay and in his time all things will be revealed. Though it seems as though nothing is happening, God is working on the back end setting things in motion.

The Christian walk is one of faith and faith is believing without seeing. Today as you go about your day, remember that God is still working things out for you. Though delayed, its not denied. Just stay on course and walk by faith. What may seem like a year to you, is but minutes to God. Trust his divine plan and WAIT.

Memory Text:

Wait for the LORD and keep his way, and he will exalt you to inherit the land; you will look on when the wicked are cut off. – Psalm 37:34

Prayer Prompt:
Lord, thank you for reminding me that you are still at work even when I don’t see you. Teach me to wait patiently on your perfect will for my life. Help me to stay on course during the wait and show me how to be content with what I have…
