Bind yourself to the TRUTH

While reading today’s scripture 1 John 1-2, I noticed how much emphasis was placed on adhering to the Truth of God’s Word and not being led astray by the many anti-Christs that have and will spring up in the last days. As I headed to work yesterday, the “Israelites” surrounded the train station with Bible in hand and were pulling aside every young person that would give them the time of day. Just as I made it down the stairs, there was a young man sharing the Gospel at the top of his lungs. Once I made it to the train, another lady began to share the Gospel on the train.

Everywhere you go, someone is sharing a message. Sometimes they are right on target while others are way off. Unfortunately, many are led away by false beliefs because they lack the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The Bible can be used to support almost any belief, but it is only through the Spirit of the living God that the true Gospel message can be known. Sadly, many shepherds and zealous persons are teaching things that do not coincide with the clear Word of God yet, they have a large following.

What many do not realize is that the enemy is at work even amongst the brethren. Not everyone who speaks in the name of Jesus is being guided by the HolySpirit. Just because it sounds right, doesn’t mean it is right. Because of this, we must get in the habit of testing all teachings by the Bible. If it can not be found in the Word, BE CAREFUL! There are many who claim to have a special insight into the things of God. This may be true. However, keep in mind that God will never prove himself to be a liar nor will he contradict his Word. Even when God sent down his son, he didn’t send him to destroy but to fulfill. Guard yourself by testing all teachings with the Word of God. If it contradicts, it is not of God. For God is not the author of confusion.

My prayer today is that we will deepen our relationships with God and seek his truths. He has given us a gift that has been assigned the task of guiding us. Let us tap into this gift by seeking the truth through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Only through the Spirit will we come to know the truth and nothing but the truth.

Prayer Prompt:
Lord, thank you for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Please help me to seek and live by your truths. Grant me the Spirit of discernment so that I may recognize the deceptive teachings of the enemy…
