Celebrate the Wilderness

June, Friday 4th, 2010. Filed under: Christian Life Faith

On Wednesday evening, my hubby picked me up from the station and as I entered into the car, he was listening to a sermon by Pastor Hezekiah Walker. As we drove home, the sermon just kept getting better and better. One of the things that he said that stuck with me was that we should celebrate while being in the wilderness because though we may not quite be where we want to be, we still ain’t where we use to be.

We may be in the wilderness, but at least we ain’t in Egypt.

I must admit, the wilderness isn’t fun and sometimes it feels as though we will never make it out. At times it even feels like you are going around in circles. Despite our feelings, we must hold on to the fact that God is leading this journey.

We must remember that after the wilderness comes the promiseland.

Our job is to trust God, obey his will and follow him. We must also make certain that we do not in any way anger him because of our impatience. After-all, the last time a people got God that upset, he had them circling the desert for 40 years when they could have made it to their destination in 10 days. Still wanna get him angry?

No matter how hard the journey may be, we must stay steadfast. Even when the enemy whispers his lies in your ear, take heart because God is in control. Today, I may not know what wilderness you are going through. However, don’t forget that after the wilderness comes the promised land. Keep on pressing on and know that your heavenly Father in steering the wheel.

Memory Text:
Not only so, but we[a] also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. – Romans 5:3-5
