What’s on God’s IPod?
This morning I came across a friend’s Facebook status that truly hit home for me. It read “If God had an IPod, would you be on His playlist?” I must say that I couldn’t help but to be amazed by this statement. As I paused to truly reflect on the status, I asked myself what makes us add items to our playlists?
We like the song, the lyrics speak to us, uplift us or maybe it is as simple as we just love the artists. No one usually add songs they dislike or that offend them. I then wondered, how many times have I offended God with my decisions, thoughts, words or actions? Way too many times!
Would God put me on his IPod? Do I praise him with my life? Do I praise him with my words? Or do I constantly sin against him? The latter sounds more fitting. Paul says in 1 Timothy 1:15,
Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst.
I don’t think Paul anticipated that I’d be born. When you think about how many times a day we sin against God, it is enough for you to crawl under a rock and never come out. But, in 1 Timothy 1:16 it goes on to say,
But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life.
It is then that I thank God for his infinite grace and mercy that allows both you and I to stand before him guilt-free. I am so happy we serve a God who doesn’t hold our sins over our head. Unlike men, God not only forgives but forgets. He gives us a squeaky clean slate and cheers us on like we have never failed Him before. What an awesome God we serve!
This beautiful Sunday morning I invite you to rest in the assurance that nothing you do is too horrible for God to forgive and you can never get so far away from him that he can’t reach you. God loves you with an unconditional love that you can never rid yourself of. Come to him just as you are. Share your pains, hurts and agony with him. He hears, He cares and He will deliver.
Memory Text:
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. – Romans 8:38-39
Prayer Prompt:
Dear Lord, thank you for loving me despite myself. Help me to live a life that is pleasing to you. Forgive me of my sins and teach me to journey with you one step at a time.

Oh this very encouraging. Truth is we don’t always get this right or obey God’s instruction but His love for us is absolutely amazing.
